E-commerce sites should take advantage of user-generated content not only to cut down content creation costs but also to utilize unique content, according to Augusto Beato, CEO of Portland SEO.
Beato added that using user-generated content is especially true for e-commerce sites whose product descriptions are often identical with some online retailers.
“User-generated content, such as product reviews and customer testimonials, gives search engines unique content to rate your site as active and providing something valuable,” Beato added.
And since customers are already creating visual content that serves as a social proof to legitimize user experience, which has the power to turn browsers into buyers.
“Who else could be better in speaking about your products than your customers,” Beato quipped.
He also reminded site managers to make sure that they allow visitors to leave comments, post reviews, upload images, and participate in forum discussions.
