SIOUX FALLS, SD – A man with ties to KELOLAND is an EY Entrepreneur of the Year award-winner. You may not know Werner Nistler Jr., but you probably recognize Touchmark at All Saints. Nistler is the man behind the senior living community in central Sioux Falls.

It’s not uncommon to find Stacie Wolf having a quiet conversation with a Touchmark at All Saints resident.

“I get to make an impact in people’s lives every day,” Wolf said about her job at Touchmark at All Saints.

That is, when she can catch up with them. As we showed you on St. Patrick’s Day, retirement here is very active. Senior citizens hopped on a bus, and toasted the Irish during a pub crawl in Downtown Sioux Falls. It’s just one of many activities people who live here like to get out and do.

“I tease they have a better social life than I do, because they’re out and about,” Wolf said.

The founder and chairman of Touchmark is Werner Nistler, Jr., who is celebrating his Entrepreneur of the Year win.

“It’s a tremendous honor,”Nistler said.

EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year recognizes business leaders who have changed the world. The program has honored big name entrepreneurs such as Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com, Michael Dell of Dell Inc., and Howard Schultz of Starbucks Coffee Company. Touchmark has several locations in the United States and in Canada.

Nistler spoke to us over SKYPE about growing up on a farm in North Dakota. That led him toward starting several businesses, including the Touchmark brand.

“Touchmark is the one that is closest to my heart primarily because we’re doing great things for people who are living the last trimester of their lives,” Nistler said.

Nistler still has family in South Dakota, and gives credit to his ties to the area, the employees, and the All Saints neighborhood.

“There’s a great deal of friendship and compassion and neighborly assistance there everybody gives each other,” Nistler said.

Whether it’s a quiet conversation, or a rowdy pub crawl, Wolf credits Nistler with giving residents a sometimes uncommon experience.

“It comes from the top down. Our mission is to enrich people’s lives,” Wolf said.
